Cross-posted from my new ff.net forum LumosWhere does inspiration live? Where does it hide, unnoticed, until it decides to come out, sometimes unwillingly, and grace a writer with its presence? I don't know about you, but for me, it exists in art, books and music. A lot of songs have certain lyrics which spark an idea (ex. Hello, Goodbye by The Beatles; see " 2+2=5: An Anthology"). I know there's a lot of books (classics, that is) that have an excellent plot that could be modified to make a rather good story (Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen; Draco and Hermione . . . ). Or maybe a certain piece of art (be it fan art or something more traditional) can give you inspiration. Where do you get your inspiration from? How do you fight writer's block?
